Joy Ball
Relationship Counsellor
Joy Ball is an experienced relationship counsellor who has spent many years working with hundreds of couples, developing a clear understanding of the patterns that keep couples stuck and how to help them move out of them. She works with couples when conversations start going in the same frustrating direction. When one of you shuts down and the other keeps pushing, when small things turn into bigger arguments, or when you keep coming back to the same issue without getting anywhere, Joy helps you understand why this is happening and what to do differently.
She specialises in emotional connection, communication, trust and intimacy, working with couples who feel unheard, disconnected or caught in repeating patterns. Whether it is tension building quickly, conversations shutting down, or a growing sense of distance between you, Joy helps uncover what is happening underneath these moments. Not just what is being said, but how it is being said, how it is being received and why it keeps repeating.
Her approach is clear and focused on change. She works closely with couples to help them handle conversations differently, repair resentment and rebuild connection, so you are not having the same situations repeat over and over again.
Joy also supports individuals who want to better understand themselves within their relationship, even if their partner is not ready to attend. This work focuses on recognising your own patterns, changing behaviours that are not working and finding more effective ways to communicate and respond.
When a relationship comes to an end, Joy also supports you through the grief and loss, helping you heal from the pain, reconnect with yourself and begin to explore what your future can look like.
Joy specialises in:
- Helping couples move from repeated arguments or shutdown to calmer, more productive conversations where both feel heard
- -Supporting couples to rebuild emotional and physical closeness when the relationship starts to feel distant
- Helping you recognise what happens in the moment conversations shift, so you can respond differently instead of reacting
- Working through resentment and rebuilding trust after hurt, conflict or breakdowns in the relationship
- Supporting you through the grief of a relationship ending, helping you make sense of it and move forward with clarity
